New England's Doubledecker?
Started by Night Angel 27-12-11 .

What do you think? It sounds very cool!

Quoting from the link below

We've been following the evolution of London's hot new hybrid double-decker bus design and we're excited to announce that the real live version recently hit the streets! Designed by Thomas Heatherwick in collaboration with specialist bus manufacturer Wrightbus, the new double-decker bus takes inspiration from the 1950s era Routemaster. The new design features an open platform on the back to help streamline loading and unloading for passengers. Not only is the new bus super shiny and stylish - it's also way more fuel-efficient than current buses on the streets.

double decker bus is not uncommon, but the where's the driver seat? By assumption, i would thought that the curved shape area was for the driver, but instead i saw a stair . The other really awesome bus design that i've seen is the one in shanghai expo where the seats for a normal single bus is emptied out hence allowing passage way for cars and the second deck becomes the seats.

You mean this one? The concept for Beijing transportation...

Looks cool. Not sure about the interior, it's nice on its own (maybe some historical reference) but doesn't really fit with the modern exterior. I like their keeping of the iconic red on the exterior.

I think they need to retain the overall look of the bus so that people understand it is a revamp of the older version. If not, then they may just have the modern rectangular buses in the city, like those in HK.

And so you are right that the interior may not fit too well with the outer layer, though I think they probably won't have too many design choices. They may not move some old furniture in, I guess

Yeah, the interior looks abit odd compare to the exterior~ But the revamp doesn't seem significant, does it?

I just wonder how green these buses can make the city. You mean, there are so many other cars in London, and I believe those are the reason for the air pollution, not the buses...

Night Angel 3-1-12 2012-01-03 02:03:58

Okay, they mean "fuel-efficient", not green or environmentally friendly.

McLaranium 3-1-12 2012-01-03 03:27:40

Vincent: do you use it commonly?? I mean do you take the doubledekk commonly? what about the ticket price?

Night Angel 4-1-12 2012-01-04 01:07:23

Yes, I do, though mostly I take the subway (MTR we called it in HK). Price is very cheap and actually, all transportation is cheap here. For a normal middle-range ride, it is less than HKD10, which is less than USD1.25.

The most expensive transportation is taxi, which has the fare starting at HKD20 (USD2.5) and HKD1-1.5/km.

McLaranium 4-1-12 2012-01-04 04:23:55

my gUrLfrIeNd lives in a city with the high price of taxis too!!
taxi cab is average the same price that you say HK !! but she says its because her neighboorhood is in the exteme of the city and you gotta take part of the freeway road to go there. (0o)

Night Angel 4-1-12 2012-01-04 05:40:42

Oh in HK you don't need to pay for any highway. There are only tunnels which charge you something, but not any highway or road. It is good!

McLaranium . 5-1-12
haha here the payment includes access for tunnel, except Acapulco beach tunnel (and it is not a shorcut! just to arrive...)

Night Angel . 5-1-12
No good no good! And it costs so much as a whole!

crays 5-1-12 2012-01-05 14:59:24

The buses in Malaysia are pretty good, it used to have around 4 to 5 bus companies, but now, there's only like 2 or 3, and they don't cover the route around my house. God shit.

Highways here are fine, but the signs here are retarded.
